Ramadhan is Over but Verily Allah SWT is Ever Living

Alhumdullilah we were able to experience this beautiful month of ramadhan which brought with it so much peace, tranquility and blessings. Subhan Allah when the time of Eid comes, it is a time of celebration but at the same time a little part of sadness is there in my heart, especially as the adhaan (Call to Prayer) of Maghrib comes in which signifies the end of Ramadhan.

Now having had time to reflect on ramadhan and the feeling of sadness with its passing, and it got me thinking of events at the time the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and most notably to announcement from his closest companion, Abu Bakr as Siddique (RA). Once the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and news was spreading across the city of Madinah, sadness had covered the city with histeria infusing. Even Umar bin Al Khattab (RA) another of the prophet's close companions was in denial that the news was true. But Abu Bakr (RA) managed to have a composed approach headed to the masjid and made an announcement to the people that:

"And now, he who worships Muhammad (SAW) . Muhammad is dead now. But he who worships Allâh, He is Ever Living and He never dies.'

Now, in my lifetime I do not think I would ever be able to relate or understand that feeling of distraught that the people of Madinah felt at the time of Prophet Muhammad's (SAW) passing but perhaps the times in which ramadhan concludes also bring a sense of sadness that something good has left us. But just as Abu Bakr reminded the people of Madinah, it is really important that we also relates this to our lives and understand that ramadhan's come and go, but Allah (SWT) is Ever Living.

With this in mind, it now raises the question what next? Do we have a plan in place for what we want to achieve now that the blessed month has ended? Insha Allah what position or state do we want to be in before we approach the next ramadhan?

Of course in ramadhan, we try our hardest and push ourselves to maximum capacity in worship and good deeds during the month, and therefore would not be realistic to expect that we would be able to maintain this during the rest of the year. In fact, sometimes i feel that for some of us, that expectation could lead us to reduce our efforts even more so that before ramadhan had started. Therefore one suggestion would be to perhaps think about the actions that we have done during that month and that we really appreciated and perhaps try to embed one or two into our lives after each ramadhan that we experience and make intention to carry them on throughout the rest of our lives. Examples of these maybe that Alhumdullilah we gave a lot in charity during ramadhan, perhaps I can donate £10 sadaqah from my salary to charity every month when i receive my wages. Or Alhumdullilah we have fasted the whole of ramadhan, perhaps i will look to fast some of the sunnah days this year throughout the rest of the year (e.g. shawwal, Arafat, Mondays and Thursdays etc.).

It is very important that we have a plan as to how we will want to carry on living our life after ramadhan is over and continually making intention to attain the pleasure and love of Allah SWT throughout every single day of our lives. For verily, ramadhan may pass us by, but Allah SWT is Al Hayy (Ever Living).

May Allah SWT accept all your good deeds that you performed during the blessed month of ramadhan and help us to increase in our Imaan and attain his love and pleasure.
